Handwriting Repeater

Runs in your browser

Build a handwriting practice session

Add up to 50 letters, words, numbers, or short phrases. The session stays in this browser tab.

8 / 50 cards

Separate prompts with commas or new lines.

Premium voice when available, with a device-voice fallback. Your pen strokes are never sent to the server.

How to use this in your class

  • Start with one to five letters or short words so younger students can focus on careful movement instead of rushing through a long deck.
  • Use Trace for a new letter, Copy after the shape feels familiar, and Dictation when the student is ready to recall it without a visual model.
  • Choose print manuscript for early letter formation and cursive when students are practising connected writing.
  • Ask students to use Replay after each card. The replay preserves their pen-up pauses, which makes it easier to notice where they hesitated or lifted the pen.
  • On a tablet, a stylus gives the closest feel to pencil practice, but finger and mouse input work too.

Handwriting practice that students can watch back

The KiwiBee handwriting repeater turns any short list of letters, numbers, words, or phrases into an immediate browser-based practice session. Students write on familiar handwriting lines with a finger, stylus, or mouse, then replay the exact sequence of pen strokes. Dots, pauses between strokes, and writing speed are kept in the replay so the result feels like the original writing rather than a simple redraw.

Trace, copy, and dictation modes

Trace mode places a faint print or cursive model directly on the lines. Copy mode shows the model above a blank writing area. Dictation mode hides the prompt and lets the student listen before writing. Teachers and families can move from more support to less support without rebuilding the word list.

How to use the free online handwriting repeater

Choose a quick set or enter your own prompts, select Trace, Copy, or Dictation, pick print manuscript or cursive, and choose the number of writing lines. During practice, students can change pen colour, undo or clear their work, replay at 0.25× to 4× speed, pause and resume, restart, or loop the replay. Everything resets when the browser session ends because the tool does not need an account or database.

Private by design for quick classroom practice

Word lists and handwriting strokes are held only in the active page state. The tool does not create a student profile or store a deck. If Listen is used, the current prompt and selected language go to the speech endpoint; a device voice takes over when the premium voice is unavailable.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the handwriting repeater free?
Yes. You can create and run a handwriting practice session without signing up or paying.
What is a handwriting repeater?
It is an online handwriting practice board that lets a student trace, copy, or write from dictation, then replay the pen strokes in the order they were made.
Can students practise print and cursive?
Yes. Choose print manuscript or cursive before starting the session. The selected style is used for the trace guide and copy model.
Does it work on tablets and interactive whiteboards?
Yes. The canvas accepts stylus, finger, and mouse input in modern browsers, and the full-screen tool frame works well on a shared classroom display.
What happens to the words and handwriting?
The deck and pen strokes stay in the current browser session and are not saved to a database. When Listen is pressed, only that prompt text and the selected language are sent to the voice endpoint; handwriting strokes are never sent.
Can I trace non-Latin scripts?
Trace guides currently support Latin letters, digits, spaces, and basic punctuation. Other scripts automatically switch that card to Copy mode, while Copy and Dictation remain available.
