About this simulation

Compare moisture, temperature and oxygen with a reference seed. Timing is illustrative; seed species and dormancy are not modelled.

What students can explore

  • Observe day 10 with moisture 60%, temperature 25°C and oxygen 21%.
  • Change one condition per row. The reference keeps moisture 60%, 25°C and oxygen 21%.

Learning objectives

  1. 1Compare one condition with a fixed reference seed.

Questions teachers ask

What assumptions does this model use?

The moisture and oxygen controls are independent. In real waterlogged soil, reduced air space can restrict oxygen; the model does not calculate that coupling.

How do I reset the investigation?

Use Reset experiment to restore the starting controls. Use the sliders with a pointer, touch or keyboard. The model runs without an account.
