Use the Homework Tracker to Follow Assignment Progress Without a Separate Sheet

Homework progress lighthouse with anonymous student status markers

A separate spreadsheet can quickly drift away from the homework students actually received. KiwiBee's Homework Tracker keeps the teacher inside the Assignments workspace and uses the current authorized class context. Its middle panel lists units, lessons, and homework. Selecting a homework opens a per-student Done/Not done roster in the shared third panel; selecting a unit opens unit-level student performance. The tracker is a session-bound projection, not another gradebook.

Move from unit to lesson to assignment

Start with the intended class, then choose the relevant unit or lesson before opening an assignment. This sequence matters because similarly named work can exist in different classes or curriculum locations. The tracker exhausts bounded, deterministic pages so a large recipient list is not silently cut off. It filters through the service boundary before pagination. Teachers and solo Teacher Admin owners use the same host and selection contract.

Done and Not done are progress states for the selected homework. They help a teacher see who may need a reminder, clarification, additional time, or an alternative route. They do not explain why work is unfinished, prove that a learner understood it, or guarantee that completed work is accurate. The teacher should open the relevant submission or classroom evidence before making an academic judgment.

Use the tracker as a prompt for follow-up

The tracker never persists a second score. Grade and feedback consequences remain in their owning workflow, while the tracker presents the assignment projection. If its backend is unavailable, the page fails closed and shows a retry action rather than substituting aggregate counts or guessed rows. That behavior is important: an empty-looking or partial roster should not be mistaken for current progress.

  1. Open Assignments and choose Homework Tracker.
  2. Confirm the active class and curriculum context.
  3. Select a unit for the broader performance view or a homework for its roster.
  4. Read each visible Done or Not done state for that exact assignment.
  5. Open supporting evidence before deciding what help is needed.
  6. Retry if the tracker reports an unavailable backend; do not copy stale totals into another sheet.

The best use of a homework tracker is a short, evidence-aware follow-up routine. Check status at a consistent time, contact learners respectfully, record any approved extension in the proper workflow, and revisit after the next submission window. Keep recipient choice and publication under teacher control. Progress visibility can organize attention, but it cannot promise completion, differentiation, or learning gains. Check the exact assignment title and due date. Distinguish missing work from late-approved work. Do not infer motivation from a status label. Use private channels for individual follow-up. Verify that the student was an intended recipient. Review extensions and accommodations.
