Slingshot Launcher

Tentang simulasi ini

This simulation connects stored elastic energy with projectile motion. The stretched band holds half k d squared, which becomes the bird's kinetic energy on release, so launch speed rises with stretch and falls with mass. Sliders change band stiffness and bird mass, a toggle shows the predicted arc, and a button rebuilds the towers. Readouts show launch angle, launch speed, band energy, range with peak and targets hit. Teachers can use it to compare energy stored and energy gained, and to find the best angle.

Yang bisa dijelajahi siswa

  • Drag the bird back a small distance and then twice as far, comparing Launch speed and Band energy.
  • Aim at 45 degrees along the dotted arc and check the Range readout.
  • Increase Bird mass and see how the same pull gives a slower launch.
  • Raise Band stiffness to 120 newtons per meter and knock down a tower with a shorter pull.
  • Press Rebuild towers and try to hit every green target with fewer shots.

Tujuan pembelajaran

  1. 1Relate band stretch to stored elastic energy.
  2. 2Explain why a heavier bird leaves at a lower speed with the same pull.
  3. 3Identify 45 degrees as the best range angle without air drag.
  4. 4Use readouts to plan a shot that topples a target.

Pertanyaan yang sering diajukan guru

Is the Slingshot Launcher simulation free to use?

Yes. It is free, needs no sign-up, and runs in any modern browser, including whiteboards, tablets and phones.

How is launch speed related to stretch?

The stored energy is half k d squared and turns into kinetic energy half m v squared, giving v equals d times the square root of k over m. Pull twice as far and the bird leaves twice as fast.

How do I fire the slingshot?

Drag the bird back in the pouch, use the dotted arc to see where it will go, and release. Press Rebuild towers to reset the targets.

Which angle sends the bird farthest?

Over level ground with no air drag, 45 degrees gives the longest range. Higher or lower angles land the bird closer.
