Domino Chain

Tentang simulasi ini

This simulation lets students design and test domino runs. Click to place a piece, drag to reposition it, and click a domino to start a fall. Buttons add a curved row, push the first domino, stand everything up, remove the last piece or clear the table, and a slider sets the gap for added rows. Readouts show placed, fallen, wave speed and chain state. Teachers can explore spacing and cause and effect: find the largest gap that still passes the topple along, and relate it to height and angle.

Yang bisa dijelajahi siswa

  • Click the table to place several dominoes in a line, then press Push first and watch the chain.
  • Drag a domino farther from its neighbor until the chain stops, then read how many Fallen.
  • Use Add curved row with a different Gap and compare the Wave speed readout.
  • Press Stand all up after a failed run, move pieces closer, and try again.
  • Use Remove last to undo a placement, or Clear table to design a new layout.

Tujuan pembelajaran

  1. 1Explain how one falling domino transfers energy to the next.
  2. 2Investigate how spacing affects whether a chain continues.
  3. 3Measure and compare the speed of a toppling wave.
  4. 4Revise a design after testing it, using the fallen count as evidence.

Pertanyaan yang sering diajukan guru

Is the Domino Chain simulation free to use?

Yes. It is free, requires no account, and runs in any modern browser including whiteboards, tablets and phones.

How fast does a domino wave travel?

A toppling wave moves at a steady speed of roughly 0.5 to 1 meter per second, because each domino needs only a small shove to start the next one.

How do I build and start a chain?

Click the table to add dominoes, drag a piece to move it, then either click a domino or press Push first. Stand all up resets the pieces without removing them.

Why does the chain stop when the gap is too big?

A falling domino pivots about its bottom edge, so its top reaches only a limited distance. If the next piece is farther than that, the falling one misses and the chain ends.
